The Purpose of IGHC.

The Interdisciplinary Global Health Club (IGHC) is a platform and safe space for people of all backgrounds and disciplines to discuss planetary health and to become leaders in the field.

Planetary Health Speaker Series

IGHC will present a Planetary Health Speaker Series to provide education by professionals of climate change. Specifically, there will be 4 speaker presentations and each of the 4 meetings will include an opportunity for discussion and to ask questions.

Community Outreach Event

At the end of the term, there will be a community outreach event to spread awareness and start providing relief and support to populations vulnerable to climate change.

Create Leaders in Planetary Health

We hope that members join the group with the intent of becoming future leaders in supporting planetary health. IGHC will support any endeavours inspired by the Planetary Health Speaker Series in relation to promoting planetary health.

How IGHC Started.

Tharsha and Cara, Co-Presidents of IGHC, attended the Lancet Countdown to Climate Change conference on November 29, 2018,  and noticed the lack of conversation about climate change. According to Tharsha, until the Sustainable Development Goals placed by the UN are achieved, there remains a deficit in education and action regarding Planetary Health.

Your Task.

Be educated on the undeniable facts of climate change and find out what you can do about it by attending meetings and voicing your concerns and curiosities.
